About Patrick Murray

Patrick Murray is an explorer, musician, photographer, animal lover and many other things. I currently work at the San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park as an 'Education Guide', but very soon will be leaving to study Baboons in Kenya for a year.

My love for animals started when I was very young. As a young child, I spent many days at the zoo with my parents. One day I wanted to walk off on my own to explore the park, but my parents would not let me. They insisted that I hold their hand. Refusing, I exclaimed "Patrick holds Patrick's hands!" and started to walk around holding my own hand.Since then I have become a very independent person relying on my love of life rather than on the love of another person. A quote by Herman Hesse best describes this:

"We wanderers are very cunning - we develop those feelings which are impossible to fulfill; and the love which actually should belong to a woman, we lightly scatter among small towns and mountains, lakes and valleys, children by the side of the road, beggars on the bridge, cows in the pasture, birds and butterflies. We separate love from its object, love alone is enough for us, in the same way that, in wandering we dont look for a goal, we only look for the happiness of wandering, only the wandering." - Herman Hesse

It is this that has led me to Africa. After my first excursion in 2008, I fell in love with it. I often get questions why I would want to live there, but I can't describe it to them. Only the other people who have been to Africa can understand what it does to you. My current goal in life is to lead research studies worldwide in ecological and environmental problems to overcome human degradation and humnan/animal conflicts.



Patrick Murray's Music

Since a very young age I have loved music. As a two year old, I would dance to the music in stores while I was pushed along in my stroller. It is because of this my parents enrolled my in piano lessons at the tender age of three, until I was nine years old.

After the piano I moved into saxaphone for a year, followed by trombone for two and then in mid high school into DJing which is my current project. I DJ electronic music (House and Trance). I am starting to explore music production. more...



Patrick Murray's Photography

Starting junior year at Poway High School, I enrolled in a photography and fell in love with it. I have been taking photos ever since. I started out with an entirely manual SLR camera and have moved onto a Nikon D90 digital SLR.

I also have recently started to take some underwater photographs. I bought a Nikonos V underwater camera with a few attachments to shoot film, and I bought a EWA-Marine underwater case for my D70 and now my D90. more...
